Fabulous Competition Winners
Congratulations to Jane and James McCaughey, our winners from our Heritage Camellia competition with the Telegraph.
We had a huge response from gardening enthusiasts from all over the UK trying to win a propagated plant of our rarest heritage variety, Camellia japonica Middlemist’s Red.
As part of the prize our winners received a tour of both Camellia show with Head Gardener, Geraldine King and the Walled Kitchen Garden, with William Rallison our Kitchen Gardener. The Middlemist’s Red is now in its new garden in North London, it has already been re-potted and will be planted using all the information gleaned from their recent visit to the Camellia Show.
Our winners, Jane and James commented, 'We are delighted to be the proud new owners of one of your magnificent Middlemist’s Red camellias'. The gardening team at the Trust will be interested to follow the progress of our heritage plant.
